Support The Village

It takes a Village to support one person

The Village at Incarnate Word is a 501 c (3) non-profit corporation and qualified to receive charitable gifts. Our mission derives from our founders, The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, who first answered a call for help for San Antonio by building Santa Rosa Infirmary in 1869 when a terrible epidemic of cholera threatened the lives of its citizens. As the need for children who had lost their parents during this time, the Sisters established St. Joseph’s Orphanage. When the need for education came, the Sisters established Incarnate Word College, now The University of the Incarnate Word. When the need arose for housing and providing retirement options and care for older adults, the Sisters answered with The Village at Incarnate Word and Sisters Care at The Village. Their continuing service in health care, education and social services spans over 135 years.

Your gift is our ministry

As people of faith we are called to live in the world of possibility, and we are committed to being worthy of generosity. Development and fundraising is approached at the Village at Incarnate Word as a ministry. We view it as an opportunity for mutual conversation of heart and mind. We are focused on quality of care for older adults and we believe in promoting dignity to all we serve in every religion or spiritual belief.  The Village at Incarnate Word has a passion for excellence and tradition.
